Jan Strÿcker (1615-ca. 1697) emigrated from Holland to New Amsterdam, New York in 1652. He moved in 1654 to what is now Flatbush, Long Island, New York, and married twice (once in Holland). By the sixth generation, descendants spelled the surname Stryker. Descendants and relatives lived in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Wisconsin, Colorado and elsewhere.
