This book addresses one aspect of the Johnson presidency : the evolution of the president's varied circle of Vietnam War advisers from 1965 to 1968. These leaders, whose advice on the whole was rational and well intentioned, led Johnson to decisions that resulted in the frustrating and tragic outcome of the Vietnam War.
