Description
Thomas Hooke (1645/1650-1697/1698) immigrated from near London, England to Middlesex County, Maryland, and later settled in Prince George County, Maryland. James Hook (1839-1905) was a direct descendant in the seventh generation, born in Carroll County, Ohio. James served in the Civil War between 1862 and 1865, and moved to Wapello County, Iowa in late 1865. He married Virginia Elder in 1867; after her death, he married again but without issue. Descendants and relatives lived in Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iowa and elsewhere. Includes family history and genealogical data about ancestry in England, Ireland and elsewhere to the early 1500s about the Hook (Hooke) family. The Eller immigrant ancestry was probably from Germany to Pennsylvania, but cannot be definitively traced to the immigrant ancestor.
