Finalizada la guerra civil, mientras media España vitoreaba a los vencedores, la otra media se veía abocada a un proceso de depuración y represión que duraría cuarenta años. Para tal fin se restableció el Código Civil de 1889 y reformó el Código Penal de 1932 anulando y creando nuevas leyes que configuraran el Nuevo Estado. La reforma de las leyes de familia tuvo especial repercusión en las mujeres y los hijos de los vencidos. Predicadores fue una de esas cárceles donde vivieron y murieron muchas mujeres, algunas acompañadas de sus hijos pequeños. En muchos casos sólo por ser esposas o madres de republicanos, convirtiendo sus vidas en “un verdadero infierno”.

Finished the Spanish Civil War, while half of Spain acclaimed the winners the other half of the population was heading for a process of repression and depuration which would last forty years. To carry out this process the Civil Code of 1889 was restored and the Penal Code of 1932 was reformed nullifying and creating new laws which would formed the New State. The women and children of the defeated side were especially affected by the reform of family law. Predicadores was one of the prisons were a lot of women, some of them with their children, lived and died. A great deal of them were imprisoned only for being mothers or wives of republicans, converting their lives in “a true Hell”.
