Matthew Grant (1601-1681) and his family emigrated from England to Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1630, and in 1635 moved to Windsor, Connecticut. He married twice (once in England, once in Windsor). Banding bats for later recognition is a productive method of studying bats in the wild. The success of a banding program depends on two things: First, if the resulting data are to be useful, banding procedures must be standardized as far as possible; second, interest of the general public must be stimulated, since it is this group that can provide a great number of band returns that would otherwise go unreported.
