"Go Into All the World" A Study of the Great Commission Texts

"Go Into All the World" A Study of the Great Commission Texts

by Dr. Daniel L. Butler

2009 · Xlibris Corporation

The Great Commission stands as the single most important aspect of New Testament mandates, and without its realization, Christianity would have died –believers would have failed to pass Christian truths to others. Obviously, Jesus’ mandate to make disciples continues to impact the world, and through this manuscript, author Dr. Daniel Butler has thoroughly examined the Great Commission texts. Furthermore, by considering the only history book of the church in the New Testament – Acts – the study examines the church’s understanding, implementation, and fulfi llment of Jesus’ commissioning words. Although the Great Commission may appear fl awed with discrepancy at fi rst blush, the student of this material will walk with the author through each of Jesus’ commissioned texts in detail, compare their similarities, contrast any differences, and emerge with a consolidated grasp of Jesus’ mandate to make disciples. By reconciling every potential discrepancy, distilling the commission elements into a summary, and examining the disciples’ response in the book of Acts, the student of this study will experience enlightenment and understanding through grasping Jesus’ most important words and observing the early church’s fulfi llment.

What Shall the End Be?

What Shall the End Be?

by Dr. Angelo Dart

2025 · Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.

Christianity did not die because of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It lives because of His resurrection. This is a truth that captures the whole of the Christian faith. This is the great distinction of religion and reality: God in the flesh has come to live in His people. Such a discovery, however, appears to be a one-way proposition. Can His church, the Body of Christ, respond to the call of a bride prepared? Will Christ find faith in a glorious church without spot or wrinkle or any such thing? The answers from His church must be forthcoming before He answers with His coming. Christ does not just transition us. He changes us--and the change comes from Him, abiding in our hearts with the power of a choice. If there were full realization that having Christ is relationship and not religion, the world would not know tragedies such as addictions and suicides. First John 3 notes, "See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so, we are." The simplicity of God through His Son Christ Jesus, bestowing an unconditional love upon us, will provide to all a complete overwhelming belief in something never realized before. This is the universal truth of the Christ. This is not the Christ of history or philosophical bent or scientific observation. This is the Christ of the cross. Can anyone among us say we are ready for His coming?

Living Theodrama

Living Theodrama

by Dr Wesley Vander Lugt

2014 · Ashgate Publishing, Ltd.

A fresh, creative introduction to theological ethics. Offering an imaginative approach through dialogue with theatrical theory and practice, Vander Lugt demonstrates a new way to integrate actor-oriented and action-oriented approaches to Christian ethics within a comprehensive theodramatic model. This model affirms that life is a drama performed in the company of God and others, providing rich metaphors for relating theology to everyday formation and performance in this drama. This book contains not only a fruitful exchange between theological ethics and theatre, but it also presents a promising method for interdisciplinary dialogue between theology and the arts that will be valuable for students and practitioners across many different fields.

A Theology for the Church

A Theology for the Church

by Dr. Daniel L. Akin

2014 · B&H Publishing Group

The revised edition of A Theology for the Church retains its original structure, organized under these traditional theological categories: revelation, God, humanity, Christ, the Holy Spirit, salvation, the church, and last things. Each chapter within these sections contains answers to the following four questions: What does the Bible say? What has the church believed? How does it all fit together? How does this doctrine impact the church today? Contributions from leading Baptist thinkers R. Albert Mohler, Jr., Paige Patterson, and Mark Dever among others will also appeal to the broader evangelical community. Included in this revision are new chapters on theological method from a missional perspective (Bruce Ashford and Keith Whitfield) and theology of creation, providence, and Sabbath that engages current research in science and philosophy (Chad Owen Brand). Chapters on special revelation (David Dockery) and human nature (John Hammett) have also been updated.
