Richard and Peter came to America in about 1634, Peter settling in Virginia, while Richard " ... went to New England in America."--P. 20. Richard married Abigail Downing, daughter of Rev. Dr. Downing, of Norwich, England in about 1637. Richard Montague, of Hadley, Massachusetts, died 14 December 1681. His wife Abgail died 14 December 1681. Peter Montague " ... was born somtime between the years 1600 and 1612. He was an elder brother of Rechard Montague, the Ancestor of the New England Montagues. ... It is not know whom he married ... Peter settled, lived and died in Lancaster County, Va., on the north side of the Rappahannock river ... No record has been found of his children."--P. 641-642. Descendants and relatives of Richard and Peter lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois, Iowa, Vermont, Virginia, Missouri, Alabama, Texas, Mississippi and elswhere.
