This is the first in a two-volume series that relates the history of the Upper Canadian Rebellion, which took place during John A. MacDonald's reign as Prime Minister of Canada. MacDonald and his cabinet received a great deal of negative backlash after the controversial execution of the rebellion's ring leader, Louis Riel, in 1885.
