Los estudios sobre la teoría literaria, la literatura y el teatro españoles han sido unas líneas básicas de investigación del profesor José Romera Castillo a través de una dilatada y fructífera trayectoria docente e investigadora. En este volumen, Teselas literarias actuales, se recogen unos trabajos que proporcionan el perfil de sus investigaciones en torno a la literatura generada y recepcionada en la época de hoy y que, a su vez, sirven para iluminar los temas tratados. The Role of the Bishop in Late Antiquity

Late Antiquity witnessed a major transformation in the authority and power of the Episcopate within the Church, with the result that bishops came to embody the essence of Christianity and increasingly overshadow the leading Christian laity. The rise of Episcopal power came in a period in which drastic political changes produced long and significant conflicts both within and outside the Church. This book examines these problems in depth, looking at bishops' varied roles in both causing and resolving these disputes, including those internal to the church, those which began within the church but had major effects on wider society, and those of a secular nature.

Part historical detective story, part memoir, Fading Footprints traces the author's journey into the magical folklore of the /xam hunter-gatherers of the Upper Karoo. Through archival research and on field trips in South Africa, de Prada-Samper reveals the tragic scope of the genocide of the /xam San by European colonisers. However, he is also able to humanise the /xam as he delves into the work and lives of researchers Wilhelm Bleek and Lucy Lloyd, who recorded the stories of San prisoners in Cape Town over more than a decade in the late 1800s. Determined to seek out the ancient folklore tales, the author travels to forgotten corners of the Northern Cape. There he learns that many stories are still told to this day by farm workers and that, contrary to common belief, the culture and traditions of South Africa's first people are still very much alive. Their footprints may have faded but they have not been erased.

Este libro propone al lector, mediante la revisión de un corpus textual ampliamente representativo, un acercamiento panorámico a los principales autores y tendencias del cuento literario español en el siglo XX. Es pues -y sobre todo- una útil herramienta informativa que permite apreciar la riqueza y la variedad de un género que carecía, hasta el momento, de un estudio sintético que proporcionase una visión de conjunto. En este sentido, aspira a cubrir un vacío bibliográfico ofreciendo un mapa general con el que iniciar un recorrido crítico capaz de valorar lo que la práctica del cuento ha dado de sí en la España de los últimos cien años. Por otra parte, la particular atención que presta a los procedimientos narrativos y a las fórmulas propias desarrolladas por cada uno de los autores estudiados apunta posibles vías de acercamiento y sirve de orientación a quien desee profundizar en el conocimiento de una obra o de un periodo determinado.
