Woman Alone

Woman Alone

by Gladys L. Jackson

2011 · AuthorHouse

Woman Alone is a vision and dream of mine out of experiences of feeling alone within my marriage. It tells of both my personal struggles in my marriage and my attempt to help women and men to understand their completion of each other through their spiritual growth from wisdom found in the Holy Bible. There is a deep hurt and a deep longing in our hearts. When we feel alone - that hurt can only be fixed by God Himself. There are Bible Scriptures to help us to be healed and feel His love. There are scripture answers to all relationship questions. I believe that reading and studying the bible will bring total family victory. We can overcome the issues of life and come up to a greater family unit. I believe that through the plan of God we can develop an unconditional love for each other and be happy and stay in the marriage for a life time. -Gladys L. Jackson

The Federal Reserve

The Federal Reserve

by Robert L. Hetzel

2023 · University of Chicago Press

"An ambitious history . . . [Hetzel's] book is a very important contribution to the literature on the history of U.S. monetary policy." ― EH.net In The Federal Reserve: A New History, Robert L. Hetzel draws on more than forty years of experience as an economist in the central bank to trace the influences of the Fed on the American economy. Comparing periods in which the Fed stabilized the economy to those when it did the opposite, Hetzel tells the story of a century-long pursuit of monetary rules capable of providing for economic stability. Recast through this lens and enriched with archival materials, Hetzel's sweeping history offers a new understanding of the bank's watershed moments since 1913. This includes critical accounts of the Great Depression, the Great Inflation, and the Great Recession—including how these disastrous events could have been avoided. A critical volume for a critical moment in financial history, The Federal Reserve is an expert, sweeping account that promises to recast our understanding of the central bank in its second century. "Hetzel's book skillfully traces out the Fed's uneven history. He carefully identifies and explains the reasons for the Fed's major failures and successes and he covers the most recent episodes—the financial crisis, Great Recession, and the COVID-19 crisis—in great detail. Hetzel's own intellectual framework provides valuable nuances, resulting in a unified view of Fed policy, before and after 1980, with reference to a single model." —Peter Ireland, Boston College

Magnetoseismology

Magnetoseismology

by Frederick W. Menk, Colin L. Waters

2013 · John Wiley & Sons

Written by a researcher at the forefront of the field, this first comprehensive account of magnetoseismology conveys the physics behind these movements and waves, and explains how to detect and investigate them. Along the way, it describes the principles as applied to remote sensing of near-Earth space and related remote sensing techniques, while also comparing and intercalibrating magnetoseismology with other techniques. The example applications include advanced data analysis techniques that may find wider used in areas ranging from geophysics to medical imaging, and remote sensing using radar systems that are of relevance to defense surveillance systems. As a result, the book not only reviews the status quo, but also anticipates new developments. With many figures and illustrations, some in full color, plus additional computational codes for analysis and evaluation. Aimed at graduate readers, the text assumes knowledge of electromagnetism and physical processes at degree level, but introductory chapters will provide an overview of the relevant plasma physics and magnetospheric physics. The book will thus be of interest to entry-level and established researchers in physics of the Earth's magnetosphere and ionosphere, as well as to students, academics and scientifically literate laypersons with an interest in understanding space weather processes and how these relate to the dynamic behavior of near-Earth space.
