Ethics and Business

Ethics and Business

by Paul C. Godfrey, Laura E. Jacobus

2021 · Wiley Global Education

Ethics & Business: An Integrated Approach for Business and Personal Success gives students the practical knowledge and skills to identify ethical dilemmas, understand ethical behavior in themselves and others, and advocate for ethical behavior within their organization. The course focuses on three ethical questions: the individual, the organization, and the societal perspective. These questions and views explore different areas of business ethics, such as the use and abuse of power, challenges to honesty and integrity, and participation in ethical interventions such as reporting, repair, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Most business ethics courses are based on a single point of view. Depending on the viewpoint, this might be based on philosophical theory, organizational behavior, or a legal and regulatory compliance approach. As an author team, we combine and integrate these points of view into a unified whole by incorporating unique content, original videos, and adaptable case studies to assist students in making ethical decisions in their professional and personal lives.

Milford Chronicles

Milford Chronicles

by Paul E. Curran

2013 · History Press

Milford, Massachusetts, incorporated in 1780, rests on the cusp of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor. Granite and manufacturing jobs drew immigrants to this small town during the Industrial Revolution to form a richly textured community. In this collection of the best of his columns, local historian Paul E. Curran chronicles the lives and achievements of many who left indelible imprints on Milford. Some contributed distinctive architecture, such as the stately Town Hall and the only Irish round tower in the country. Others offered gifts for the mind--major contributions to the national library system and the original version of the children's classic The Little Engine that Could. There were extraordinary athletes, intrepid travelers and those who marked the social conscience through personal sacrifice. Milford Chronicles celebrates the spirit of all who contributed to the community's rich and enduring history.

Winter Water Temperatures and an Annotated List of Fishes

Winter Water Temperatures and an Annotated List of Fishes

by Robert L. Edwards, Robert Livingstone, Paul E. Hamer

1961

Cruise no. 126 of the Albatross III was planned and conducted to gather information about the distribution of fishes across the Continental Shelf from Nantucket Shoals to Cape Hatteras during the late winter period when water temperatures generally are at their minimum. The shelf here has a general hydrographic similarity from north to south, well described by Bigelow (1933), that makes it a particularly worthwhile area in which to study the relation of fish distribution to water temperature, depth, and other factors of the environment. Since the fish of this portion of the shelf support several different, relatively important food and industrial fisheries, as well as an intensive marine sport fishery. Cruise no. 126 served to provide data valuable to several research programs.
